Try this again!

So...i'll be honest i tried to blog...but just couldn't get in the groove...but 'the girls' (cleverly named for all the girls that reside in my department at Tech) are blogging...so yes peer pressure is attacking me and i'm submitting to it...here goes nothing...

i guess i will start with my most recent obsession...no its not a boy (thought some would LOVE for that to be true) ...it's the Lubbock Rape Crisis Center...an organization dedicated to helping survivors of sexual crimes...i just completed 40 hours of intense training to be a Certified Sexual Assault Advocate...and yes certified by the state...not all advocates are...cool huh? with that title i serve as an advocate for the victim, someone who is there ONLY for them...to listen...to believe and to assist with any questions they may have...i must say...i am SUPER excited about helping people...i don't think i've been this excited about something in a long time...i guess you might wonder why now...and why the LRCC...well truth is...i recently lost my cousin and best friend, Camille in november...dealing with the loss is something i don't think i will ever get used to...but counseling has helped...and it was there that the idea was brought up "to do something Camille would do"...Camille was a rape victim, and i truly think if she were here she'd be totally on board with helping....and sharing her survival story...so since she can't and I can then i will! So, my first act as a volunteer starts today at 5 pm...i'm on call...answering the center phone...so wish me luck and i'll fill ya in later! :)
